Speedtest feature for Yettel app

The aim of the project was to expand the current Yettel application with a new speedtest feature. As a UI Academy student, I had the opportunity to work on a real project with a real client. When creating the new feature, I was able to use as many parts of the brand guidelines as I wanted, including some of my own ideas.

To start the design process, I analyzed Yettel's current mobile app and brand guidelines to identify the key brand components and guidelines. I used Yettel's existing brand colors, typography, and UI components as a basis for the new design.

I brainstormed ideas for the new speedtest feature, with a focus on making the feature more engaging and user-friendly. I wanted to make the feature less boring than traditional network speed tests, while still maintaining a professional and trustworthy look and feel.

To achieve this, I incorporated playful elements into the design, such as miniature figures sitting on cards and subtle animations. I also used thin line UI elements and illustrations to create a more playful and engaging aesthetic that still aligns with Yettel's existing brand guidelines.

To make the feature more user-friendly, I focused on creating a simple, intuitive interface that would make it easy for users to understand their network speed test results. I incorporated visual indicators, such as progress bars and graphs, to provide users with a clear understanding of their network speed and to motivate them to improve it.

For the illustrations, I combined brand image elements of Yettel's circle-triangle-square with thin line illustrations and fine, non-obtrusive animations.

I also added an onboarding process that only appears during the user's first test. This feature helps users understand how to use the app and get the most out of the speedtest feature. The onboarding process includes brief instructions on how to start the test, what the test measures, and how to interpret the results.

I was so glad to have the opportunity to present my design to Yettel’s Digital Team and also to 200 professionals at the final portfolio presentation event. 😊
